Police appeal after 74 year-old man killed in Brampton-en-le-Morthen

A police investigation is underway following the death of a 74 year-old man in a suspected fatal road traffic collision on Tuesday (18th February)

Police were called at 8:30pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Long Road, Brampton-en-le-Morthen.

Officers attended the scene and conducted a search of the area to understand the circumstances surrounding the collision. The vehicle, a black Citroen Picasso, was later recovered. 

“At 8.30am this morning (Wednesday 19 February), police received a further call from the ambulance service following reports the body of a man had been discovered on Long Road, near to the scene of last night’s collision.” a Police spokesperson said.

“The man, a 74-year-old, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”

“His family are being supported by specially trained officers.”

Were you driving through Long Road yesterday evening and did you see any people on the road? Did you witness the collision or did you see any vehicles on Long Road prior to the collision? Officers are especially keen to hear from any motorists who may hold dashcam footage.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.
