Ruby Torry, the 21 year old waiter from Thorpe Hesley is excited to show TV viewers how she survives on a tropical island when she appears on Bear Gryllsโ new desert island TV series this weekend.
Fitness fan, Ruby said she wanted to show off her fitness skills as she hits the peak of her physical fitness. โI just thought, something like this is just never, ever going to come around again.โ
You canโt pay for an experience like that. So for me, when I saw the applications open I went for it but I never in a million years thought Iโd even get asked to actually do it!โ
Ruby and 11 others will hunt for a ยฃ100,000 cash prize and If they leave early, they get nothing.
Ruby expressed her concerns surrounding the islandโs water saying โI was also really worried about actually drinking it because when Iโve seen previous series and it looks like the colour of Coke and it just tastes nothing like Coke!โ
โEverythingโs so heightened, the littlest thing can become such a major issue. The hardest thing is not being able to contact anyone from home and just being able to tell them that everything is all rightโ
The encounter with Bear Grills was took Ruby by surprise โI was a bit star struck to be honest!โ He just starts talking to you like itโs the most normal thing in the world, asking you things like if youโve been preparing and stuff like that. He didnโt really give us much advice at all.โ
He wanted us to just go and have the experience. He gave us a few tips, but if we asked him things, he didnโt want to give anything away.โ
Tune at 9PM on Channel 4 at 9pm on Sunday to find out how Ruby got on.
