Man (20) arrested after town centre pub assault

A 20-year-old man has been arrested following an assault in a Rotherham town centre pub which left a man with a head injury

Police and paramedics were called to The Plough on Effingham Street at around 5.20pm on Monday (17th June) where a 31-year-old man was found with a wound to his head a police spokesperson said. 

a 20 year old male was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and he remains in custody this morning.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged with minor injuries.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and how the injuries were caused.”

“If you witnessed what happened, or have any information, call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously quoting incident 706 of June 17.”
