The M1 northbound was closed earlier this morning (7th June) following a multi-vehicle collision this morning.
The motorway was initially closed in both directions between junctions 34 and 35 to allow an air ambulance to land at the scene.
The southbound carriageway has since reopened but northbound remains closed for a collision investigation.
Highways England have since issued an update saying โdue to the complex nature of the ongoing police investigation, the estimated time for the #M1 north from J34 #Meadowhall to J35 Chappeltown to reopen is now 18:00.โ
โExpect delays and plan alternative routes if possible.โ
