by Admin

Police are hunting for a driver of a Volvo V50 which put children at risk as it passed through a housing estate at speed.

Police said the Volvo failed to Stop for Roads Policing officers in the Maltby area on Monday (May 13th)

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police operational support said “the vehicle already had accident damage and continued to drive at speed despite obvious damage to its steering and tyres.”

“Our officers are trained to constantly and dynamically risk assess all pursuits, we abandoned the pursuit when the Volvo entered a housing estate. Children and families were on the street and clearly heightened the risk.”

The Volvo was found a short while later embedded into a gate post on Norwood avenue, Maltby and the driver had left the scene, its believed he was picked up by another car.
