Man (25) in serious condition after Whiston carjacking

A man has suffered serious injuries after being attacked with a ‘metal object’ and having his car stolen in Whiston.

Police were called to East Bawtry Road at around 10:50pm on Sunday (7th April) following reports that a 25 year old man had been attacked and his car stolen.

It was reported that the man was travelling alone in a white Mercedes when he briefly pulled over close to the junction with Lease Gate Road.

“As he got out of his vehicle, it was reported that he was approached by a group of unknown men and attacked with a with metal weapon”

The victim was taken to hospital with a life-changing arm injury where he currently remains in a serious but stable condition.

“The men, who got out of a dark-coloured vehicle, then left the scene in the victim’s Mercedes.” a police spokesperson said.

A police investigation has been launched and officers are currently following a number of lines of enquiry including reviewing CCTV and house-to-house visits.
