A boardwalk used by children, families and local schools for pond dipping was destoyed in the arson attack over the weekend costing an estimated £8,000 to replace.
TWO Fire crews were called to Centenary Riverside Nature Park in Templeborough at 4.30pm on Saturday after a deliberate attack.
Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust have said “We were devastated to hear that our Centenary Riverside nature reserve was attacked by arsonists on Saturday afternoon.”
“It’s so sad to think that the fire here was started deliberately. Our volunteers have spent many hours looking after this reserve, giving up their own time to turn it into a fantastic natural breathing space, loved by locals, in the heart of Rotherham.”
