Firefighters from from Maltby, Edlington, Aston Park and Rotherham were called to a house fire at around 6:50am this morning (31 December) on Strauss Crescent in Maltby.
Upon arrival, crews found the living room of the semi-detatched property well alight and the fire had also spread to the kitchen and upper floor of the property.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed “one man was outside when fire crews arrived and was treated for smoke inhalation with oxygen therapy.”
Crews wearing breathing apparatus had extinguished the fire by hose reel jets by around 8:15am.
“This morning officer remains on scene whilst investigations in to the cause of the fire continue.”
