The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge open McLaren Composites Technology Centre

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the McLaren Automotive new Composites Technology Centre in Catcliffe this morning.

 Their Royal Highnesses visited the new McLaren Composites Technology Centre which will be used develop and manufacture lightweight carbon fibre ‘tubs’, which form the internal shell of all McLaren cars.

Their Royal Highnesses was shown the prototype manufacturing line including the industrial processes for cutting and fitting carbon fibre.

The carbon fibre car chassis produced in Rotherham will then be assembled at McLaren’s site in Woking, which The Duke visited in September last year. 

Their Royal Highnesses met those working in the factory and discussed plans for the Centre’s expansion that will provide 200 new jobs for the local area.
